District 1 is commanded by Lieutenant Andrew Batchelder
Lieutenant Andrew Batchelder began his career as a Correctional Officer at the Hernando County Jail in 1994. He has attended Pasco Hernando Community College, St. Leo University, and Withlacoochee Technical Institute for Corrections and Law Enforcement crossover training. In 1995, he was sworn in as a Reserve Police Officer with the Bushnell Police Department. In 1996, he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Assignments with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office include Patrol Deputy, Community Policing Deputy, Traffic Deputy, Rapid Response Team member, and Hostage Negotiator. In 2009, Batchelder was promoted to the rank of sergeant and worked as a Patrol Sergeant in District 2. In 2011, he was transferred to the Traffic Unit as the supervisor. In 2013, Batchelder was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and worked in the Special Operations Division as the Operations Support Commander. This section included Aviation, Marine, K-9, SWAT, Selective Enforcement, and Animal Services. Lieutenant Batchelder was transferred to District 1 as the District Commander in May of 2014.
District 2 is commanded by Lieutenant Jeff Kraft
Lt. Jeff Kraft has been employed at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office since January 1991. Prior to that he worked for the NJ Dept of Corrections for 3 years. In 1992 he was transferred to Vice/Narcotics as an undercover Detective for 2 years. He then transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in 1994 specializing in fraud/economic crimes. In 1999 he transferred back to the Patrol Division and served in Community Policing. In 2004 he transferred back to CID which had been renamed the Major Crimes Section (MCS) specializing in fraud/economic crimes. In July 2009 he was promoted to Sgt. and transferred to District 1 Patrol. In January 2010 he was transferred to Administrative Sgt for District 1 supervising: detectives, community policing and school resource officers. In April 2010 he was transferred to Det/Sgt supervising fraud/economic crimes. He was promoted to Lt in May 2014. Lt. Kraft and is currently assigned to District 2. Lt. Kraft has had extensive training relating to economic crimes to include financial crimes investigations at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Lt. Kraft has received many commendations and awards to include Deputy of the year, Deputy of the Quarter and ribbon of commendation.
