Put an "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Entry into Your Phone With Emergency Contact Information

Do emergency personnel know who to contact on your behalf in the event you are incapacitated and unable to provide them with the information?

Your cell phone can provide valuable data to law enforcement and medical professionals with a simple entry in the contacts list of your phone.  Most individuals do not have emergency contact information readily available, and this simple solution could save your life.

Here’s how to do it:  Enter ICE plus the name of your emergency contact into your cell phone, then the phone number (e.g. ICE Bob    555-5555).

Be sure your contact agrees to be the one notified in case of an emergency, and provide them with vital personal information, such as allergies and other medical conditions.  They should also be able to confirm your name, date of birth and address.  Knowing your blood type would be extremely helpful.

Take note:  if the phone is broken in an accident or you lock your phone so no one else can dial, this procedure will not work.  Click here to learn more from CBS NEWS!
