RED LIGHT RUNNING

HAS BECOME MORE EXPENSIVE

On October 1, 2005, the fine for a red light infraction increased from $118.50 to $183.50, with four points added to the driver’s license of a violator.

The Florida Department of Transportation has authorized the additional funds to be used for trauma centers.  The rationale is that a majority of accidents caused by running red lights are right angle crashes that traditionally cause more serious injuries.
