COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT) |
|
Citizens Corps is a grassroots program that brings all volunteer agencies
together to develop a plan that can meet the needs of all emergency responders. |
ARE YOU PREPARED? |
Disasters disrupt lives every year. Each disaster has lasting effects, both
to people and property. |
You have a responsibility to protect yourself and your family by knowing
what to do before, during, and after an event. |
|
The Community Emergency Response
Team (CERT) program supports local response capability by training volunteers to organize
themselves to provide immediate assistance to victims of a disaster.
CERT training is sponsored by Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Emergency Management
Section, and consists of 20 hours of training. Topics include disaster preparedness,
fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, team organization,
and disaster psychology.

Fire Corps promotes the use of volunteers to support the local fire departments.
Fire Corps is a Citizen Corps program managed by the Hernando County Fire Department.
They receive advanced training and support the fire department by working first aid
at local events, taking food and water to the firefighters on scene, and taking vitals
to ensure that our firefighters stay as safe as possible. If you would be interested
in helping the fire department or would like more information on the Fire Corps program,
please contact (352) 540-4353. |
