
Career Offender Arrested for Failure to Update or Renew Florida Identification Card Within 48 Hours

On 05-28-2026, Dwane Anthony Gomes, DOB/10-10-1976, was arrested on the charge of Failure to Update or Renew Florida Identification Card Within 48 Hours.
Gomes was adjudicated guilty by the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court in Hernando County, for the offenses of Sale, Manufacture, or Delivery of Heroin and Resisting an Officer with Violence. Due to this conviction and Gomes previous extensive criminal history, the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court designated Gomes as a Habitual Violent Offender (HVO) and Prison Releasee Reoffender (PRR), which requires him to register as a Career Offender in the state of Florida.
On 05-16-2026, Gomes was released from prison after serving a six-year prison sentence. Upon his release from prison, Gomes was placed on Conditional Release supervision with the Florida Department of Corrections Probation and Parole.
As a designated Career Offender, Gomes is required to maintain, renew, or acquire a valid Florida Driver License or Identification Card within 48 hours of release from custody.
On 05-28-2026, Detective Marcacci conducted National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center (NCIC/FCIC) and Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles/Driver and Vehicle Information Database DHSMV/DAVID query, which revealed that Gomes’ Florida Identification Card had been expired since 10-10-2017. Gomes failed to renew or acquire a valid Florida Identification Card within 48 hours of his release from incarceration on 05-16-2026, thereby placing him in violation.
On 05-28-2026, Detective Marcacci made contact with Gomes at his residence located on El Prado Avenue, Spring Hill. Upon being requested to provide a valid Florida Identification Card, Gomes advised that he did not possess one.
Gomes was placed under arrest for the following violation:

Gomes was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center, where he is being held on a no-bond status.
